On the southern coast of Sardinia, facing the Mediterranean, Cagliari Calcio represents much more than a city: it carries the colours of an entire island. Founded in 1920, the rossoblù club proudly displays the Quattro Mori, the four Moors’ heads of the Sardinian flag, on its crest. Wearing this jersey means claiming a strong island identity, proud of its language, its traditions and its football.
1970, Gigi Riva’s Scudetto
The club’s greatest achievement remains the 1970 Italian league title, won under Manlio Scopigno and driven by Gigi Riva, nicknamed “Rombo di Tuono”, the roll of thunder. The triumph of an island team over the powers of the North left its mark on the whole country, and Riva’s number 11 was retired by the club in his honour. For fans browsing the great club football shirts, the Sardinian jersey tells a unique story.
The red and blue of Casteddu
Red and blue, shared across the jersey, have become the symbol of “Casteddu”, the Sardinian name for Cagliari. Whether in the home or away version, the jersey keeps this dual colour scheme, evoking both the warmth of the island and the sea that surrounds it.
An island facing Serie A’s big cities
In Serie A, every trip to the mainland is a journey, and every home game is a matter for the whole island. The club also has a special connection with the capital: Claudio Ranieri, a coach born in Rome, led Cagliari back up twice, at the end of the 1980s and again in 2023, before returning to the bench of AS Roma, the club closest to his heart.
From the Sant’Elia to the Unipol Domus
After decades at the Stadio Sant’Elia, the club has played since 2017 in the neighbouring stadium now called the Unipol Domus. Its stands close to the pitch give matches a special intensity, and supporters make their chants echo across the Gulf of Angels.
Let the colours of Sardinia shine by choosing the Cagliari Calcio jersey, the rossoblù emblem of a passionate island.
